2014 – Committee, Calendar, Social Events, Competition

Our final & Annual General Meeting of 2013 congratulated the committee on a great year. The Dolphins still hold the Alliman Shield thanks to a 3 all draw with St George but since we had the shield in 2012 we keep it this year.

Evan Leeson - Club Champion 2013, from left Rex Oxgood (2nd ever club champ), John Black (3rd club champ, multiple state and Australian Champion), Fred Nann (first club champion, first president, first life member), Bill Richmond (foundation member and our first secretary)
Evan Leeson – Club Champion 2013, from left Rex Oxgood (2nd ever club champ), John Black (3rd club champ, multiple state and Australian Champion), Fred Nann (first club champion, first president, first life member), Bill Richmond (foundation member and our first secretary)

The 2013 Club Championship results are finalised and congratulations goes to Evan Leeson taking out the Club Championship just barely in front of the 2013 Alliman Champion and club runner up Derrick Oscar Cruz.

The Dolphins 60th Birthday party was a truly awesome event with some amazing people coming along from previous club generations. There will be a separate post on that soon with some photos and video of the day. There are plenty of shirts and stubbie holders for sale which will be available at the club meetings or just contact the new merchandise officer Ben Bayfield.

The 2014 Committee was voted in and is already working hard on various things. First on the list is the Social Events for the year. Allot of thought has been put into this to get to the right places when fish and weather is likely to be in favour so do your best to get time off or a pass from the boss to get to these events.

SSD 2014 Calendar

High on the list of priorities in the social events is pairing up newer divers with veterans to pass on knowledge and experience. This has proven in the past to build membership numbers and earn us competition wins. You can see all the events for the year on our Google Calendar. Simon Trippe has made a nice one page Calendar if you prefer.

We now have a Dolphins Instagram account for sharing photos on your smart phones and a Twitter account if you prefer getting news that way.

Here is a couple of the photos from the presentation and some highlights from the year.

Club Meeting April – Fundraiser, Social Calendar & 2013 1st quarter update

Fundraiser for the Australian teams members of the Sans Souci Dolphins

This TUESDAY 16th APRIL 7.30pm at the CLUBHOUSE

Hey everyone I would like to bring this fund raiser to your attention. The Dolphins are fortunate enough to have some extremely talented spearos who have been selected to represent Australia in both the Inter-Pacific competition in Qld and the South African Nationals in Durban. As the Dolphins usually do we pull a little fund raiser together to help ease the pocket wearing for these guys. Our members who represent Australia have always put back to the club in the way of talks, training, and assistance to their fellow members, sharing new techniques they pick up when diving with the world’s elite spearfishers. The Dolphins members have garnered such rich knowledge from these events.

Derick and EvanpuckoWe will be having a HUGE raffle with some great prizes (see below) to raise money for 3 club members. Evan Leeson, Derrick Cruz & Ian Puckeridge

So be there Tuesday 16th April (this coming Tuesday) from 7.30pm, it is the Dolphins monthly meeting – Cnr of Macquarie and Hastings Ave, Chifley.

2013 – 1st Quarter Update

The start of the year saw our own Ian & Aaron Puckeridge, along with two new club members Evan & Derek competing in the Sydney Cup, Canada Cup and Australian Titles. All placing in the top ten, they did our club proud. The Dolphins also won the first Alliman Shield held out of Gunnamatta Bay, having Feb & March Allimans cancelled due to bad weather was a let down for the boys as they were keen to do well again.
Our first two club meetings this year saw a few new members joining, Parry Gryllis our Sports sec/Vice President will get together with Simon Trippe and I for a new comers rock-hop dive to get to know them in and out of the water.
All – in – all it’s been a promising start to 2013, looking forward to an exciting year ahead.
